On October 20, 2021 the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in New York organized an on-line seminar “Then and Now: 30 Years of US-Kazakh Relations”. The American participants included the President of the NCAFP, former Assistant Secretary of State Susan Elliot, former US Ambassadors to Kazakhstan George Krol and John Ordway. The Kazakh side was represented by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States Erjan Ashikbayev and the Chair of the Board of the Foreign Policy Research Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, former Kazakh Ambassador to the USA Bolat Nurgaliyev.
They had an intensive dialogue on the issues of the history of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the perspectives of expanded strategic partnership between Nur-Sultan and Washington. Bolat Nurgaliyev in his presentation paid tribute to contructive contribution of the American partners from the government agencies, private sector, “think tanks” and mass media in the process of laying a robust foundation of relations with our country at the initial stage of the fledging young republic.
