On 4 February 2026, in Islamabad, during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Foreign Policy Research Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The Memorandum was signed on behalf of Kazakhstan by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin and on behalf of Pakistan by Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad Ambassador Sohail Mahmood.
The Memorandum is aimed at implementing joint projects and cooperation programs in areas of mutual interest.
