On September 16, 2026 Deputy Chairman of the FPRI Board Manarbek Kabaziyev provided an expert commentary to the «Jibek Joly» TV channel dedicated to the first «Central Asia – Republic of Korea» Summit.
M. Kabaziyev noted that holding of the first summit at the level of heads of state indicates the growing role of Central Asia in the system of international relations and transition of region's interaction with external partners to a new level. According to him, modern agenda of cooperation with the Republic of Korea goes beyond traditional trade and economic ties and includes critical minerals, industrial cooperation, technological development, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and transport-logistic connectivity.
The expert paid special attention to prospects of technological and industrial partnership between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea. In his opinion, an important direction is transition from model of raw material supplies and investment attraction to creation of joint high-value-added production facilities, where Kazakhstan's resource potential will be combined with Korean technologies, investments, and competencies.
M. Kabaziyev also emphasized geoeconomic significance of Kazakhstan as an important connecting link between East Asia, Central Asia, the Caspian region, and European markets. In this context, development of transport routes and the country's transit potential can become one of the practical areas for expanding the Kazakh-Korean cooperation.
