Briefing on the topic "The 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site" for foreign media journalists

On the occasion of the “30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site” on August 27, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a briefing for representatives of 16 media outlets from Jordan, Ethiopia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Egypt, Kuwait, Italy, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Canada, Belgium, Turkey, South Africa, Syria, Pakistan who arrived in Nur-Sultan.

Together with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RK Akan Rakhmetullin, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization Robert Floyd, Chairman of the Board of FPRI Bolat Nurgaliev informed foreign journalists about the historical importance of the decision taken by the First President - Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev on the closure of the SNTS and the current state of international agreements in the sphere of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. 

The initiatives of our country to strengthen international security and cooperation, including the universalization of the Treaty on Comprehensive Ban of Nuclear Weapons, were discussed in detail.
