On May 19, 2021, S.Savelyev, a senior expert of the Foreign Policy Research Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took part in the seminar "Current Issues and Challenges of International Humanitarian Law", organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Participants discussed issues of legal regulation of automatic weapons systems, deploymentof weapons in space and problems of nuclear weapons.
In addition, on May 19-20, 2021, he also participated in the “Strengthening Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament Verification Capacities” workshop organized by the International Science and Technology Center in cooperation with the British Verification Research, Training and Information Center (VERTIC).
During discussions S.Savelyevfocused his attention on issues of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, as well as the application of IAEA safeguards in the uranium mining industry.
