On August 29, 2023, senior expert of the Foreign Policy Research Institute Sergey Savelyev took part in the regional conference «The Humanitarian Consequences of Nuclear Weapons and the Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia».

The conference as part of the International Day against Nuclear Tests was co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Center for International Security and Politics, the International Committee of the Red Cross, NGOs ICAN and Sokka Gakkai International.

The conference was attended by diplomats and experts from countries of the Central Asian region.
