On April 29, 2024, Chairman of the FPRI Board Bolat Nurgaliyev met with Martin Sajdik, member of the Board of Directors of the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES), Senior Adviser to the largest NGO engaged in political mediation, the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD), Claudio Habicht, Deputy Regional Director of the CHD, and the head of the CHD project for the Eurasian region Diana Alpysbaeva.
Foreign guests have been informed of the assessment of the situation in Central Asia and the surrounding regions. Representatives of the Austrian and Swiss research centers, in turn, were interested in relations of Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries with the EU, functioning of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, and other issues of interconnectivity between Kazakhstan, the countries of Central Asia and South Caucasus. The Kazakh and foreign visions of the parameters of an updated EU Strategy in the region were discussed in detail.
The establishment of cooperation between the AIES and the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies was discussed additionally. Draft Memorandum of Understanding has been submitted to M.Sajdik. The Austrian partners will review it and the format of its signing will be determined later on.
