On May 30, 2022, the Chairman of the Board Bolat Nurgaliyev met with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Zhang Min, who arrived in Kazakhstan at the head of a observers mission of the SCO at the upcoming Republican referendum on the draft Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan".

During the conversation, B. Nurgaliyev briefed the SCO Secretary General on the main areas of the Institute's activities. The practical aspects of a possible involvement of the FPRI in the work of the Forum of SCO analytical structures were discussed. The interlocutors also touched upon general issues of developing cooperation within the framework of the regional structure of interaction between eight large countries in the field of security, joint response to challenges and threats, as well as economic and humanitarian ties.

B.Nurgaliyev, who served as the SCO Secretary General in 2007-2009, shared with the Chinese colleague his experience of managing a permanent executive and coordinating body during his tenure.
