On May 31, 2022, an online meeting was held between the leadership of the Foreign Policy Research Institute and the Center for Strategic Studies of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan Batyr Rejepov played important role in organizing the event. From the Turkmen side, Director of the Center Shiri Shiriyev and senior researcher Allaberdy Niyazov took part in the meeting.
Issues of establishing partnerships in order to develop the analytical component of the Kazakh-Turkmen strategic cooperation were discussed. The leaders of both institutions exchanged assessments of the state and prospects of political, trade, economic, transport, transit, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. Issues of the global and regional agenda were also touched upon.
Chairman of the Board Bolat Nurgaliyev emphasized the intention of his team to make a feasible contribution to strengthening the Kazakh-Turkmen relations of friendship and good neighborliness. The support of Kazakhstan for peaceful foreign policy of Turkmenistan and Ashgabat's initiatives for further development of cooperation in Central Asian region and beyond was especially noted.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish regular interaction between the two analytical structures in conducting research on foreign policy issues and jointly holding international events of various formats.
