On September 9, 2022, an international scientific andpractical conference «Interaction between Kazakhstan and China in the new geopolitical conditions: challenges and prospects» organized jointly by the Foreign Policy Research Instituteunder the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Shanghai Academy of International Studies (SAIS) was held online. This is the second recent joint event of the two analytical structures.
The work of the conference began with a welcoming speech by the Chairman of the Board of FPRI Bolat Nurgaliyev (the text of the speech is attached). The participants were also addressed by the President of SAIS Chen Dongxiao, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China Shakhrat Nuryshev and the Ambassador of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao.
Amir Bashbayev, Head of the FPRI Analysis and Forecasting Group, moderated the first session «Kazakhstan-Chinese relations in the context of new world processes».Experts from a number of leading analytical centers of Kazakhstan and China presented reports on various aspects of the state and prospects of the Kazakh-Chinese cooperation.
The deliberations of the conference were summed up by Qiang Xiaoyun, Director of the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies of the SAIS, Manarbek Kabaziyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the FPRI, and Rakhymzhan Rakhimov, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Shanghai.
