On November 30, 2022 Chairman of the Management Board Bolat Nurgaliev and the staff of the Analysis and Forecasting Group of the FPRI held a working meeting with a delegation of Russian scientists from the National Research University of the Higher School of Economics, consisting of the Director of the Center for Stability and Risk Studies of HSE University A.V. Korotaev, Deputy Director of the Center for Stability and Risk Studies of HSE University L.M. Isaev, and a lecturer at the Institute of Oriental Studies and African Studies of the HSE University, a junior researcher at the Department of African Studies and Arabic Studies of the PFRU M.I. Askerov.
The Kazakh and Russian analysts exchanged information on the main areas of activity of the research institutions they represent, discussed state and prospects for development of situation in Central Asia in the context of threats and risks to regional security emanating from Afghanistan. Among the topical topics, the problems of Islamist extremism were highlighted.
An agreement was reached to continue regular working contacts to discuss issues of mutual interest.
