In December 2022, Gulden Kaskarbayeva, an expert of the FPRI Analysis and Forecasting Group, as a representative of Kazakhstan, completed a month-long internship under the SCO Resident Researchers program initiated by India during its chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the period from 2022-2023. The program was organized by the Indian Council on International Affairs (ICWA), one of the leading Indian think tanks.
The SCO Resident Researchers program included work in the ICWA library, visits to Indian universities and think tanks in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Pondicherry - Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis, Research Information System for Developing Countries, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre For Advanced Scientific Research, Indian Institute for Human Settlements.
During the internship, G. Kaskarbayeva exchanged with Indian teachers, researchers and students assessments of topical issues of the international and regional situation, the prospects for the activities of the SCO and the potential contribution of member countries to strengthening peace, security and stability in the area of responsibility of the Organization. The results of the internship are reflected in G. Kaskarbayeva's report on topical issues of the SCO.
The Foreign Policy Research Institute plans to actively cooperate with ICWA in mutual exchange of promising researchers.
