On November 6, 2023, the Foreign Policy Research Institute organized a meeting with delegation of Chinese experts led by Jin Zhe, Deputy Director of the Institute of East European, Russian and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (IEERCAS CASS).

The meeting was also attended by experts of IEERCAS CASS, the Center for Central Asian Studies of East China Normal University, as well as the Deputy Chairmen of the Board, the experts of the External Relations Department of the FPRI.

The Chairman of the Board, Bolat Nurgaliyev, introduced his Chinese colleagues to priority areas of activity of the Institute. In turn, Deputy Director of IEERCAS Jin Zhe informed about the key tasks and practical activities of the research center she represents, which is one of the most authoritative among similar structures in the PRC.

During the meeting, topical issues of international security, current bilateral cooperation, regional cooperation in the Central Asian-China format were discussed. An exchange of views also took place on the prospects for implementing the One Belt – One Road initiative and its correlation with the Kazakh infrastructure development program Nurly Zhol.

In the evening of the same day, a meeting was held with the director of IEERCAS Sun Zhuangzhi. An agreement was reached on further steps to promote bilateral cooperation in the academic field, organize joint events with the participation of experts from the parties and exchange experience.
