On May 26, 2025, senior expert of the Institute Valery Sitenko participated online in a round table on the topic «The Helsinki Final Act as the Political Heritage of Victory in the Second World War», organized in Vienna by the Permanent Missions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
The event was attended by representatives of the delegations of participating States of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, scientific organizations and analytical centers from the OSCE region. There was a thorough exchange of views on the prerequisites for signing of the Helsinki Final Act in 1975, which led to the creation of the OSCE, the stages of the organization's evolution, and its role in maintaining security. Taking into account the transformation of modern system of international relations, the need to reform the OSCE was noted. In this regard, the participants proposed suggestions on main directions, tasks and ways of this process.
