Deputy Chairman of the FPRI Board Manarbek Kabaziyev gave an interview to the Swiss political and current-affairs magazine “Die Weltwoche”. The material was published in Issue No. 36 dated September 3, 2026.
In the interview, M.Kabaziyev presented an assessment of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy priorities amid the transformation of the international system, emphasizing strategic importance of a multi-vector foreign policy, diversification of international partnerships, and preservation of Kazakhstan’s autonomy. Particular attention was given to relations with Russia, China, the European Union, and the United States, development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and strengthening of Kazakhstan’s role in Eurasian transport and logistics architecture.
A significant part of the interview focused on Kazakhstan-Switzerland cooperation. Describing Switzerland as an important partner of Kazakhstan in Europe, M.Kabaziyev highlighted the potential for further development of investment, technological, and industrial cooperation.
In conclusion, the expert noted that Kazakhstan views the emergence of a multipolar world not only as a challenge but also as an opportunity for development, seeking to preserve room for an independent foreign policy and to use changes in the international system in the national interest.
