Nur-Sultan, December 25, 2020 - The wrap-up meeting of the "Foreign Policy Research Institute"JSC ("FPRI" JSC) on the results of work in 2020, attended by Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov, the Head of the Board of Directors of the Institute, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi took place today.
During the meeting, Chairman of the Governing Board of "FPRI" JSC Aiymdos Bozzhigitov reported on extensive and comprehensive scientific and analytical work on topical issues of significant interest for Kazakhstan carried out by the Institute this year.
There was noted the targeted focus of the analytical documents, regularly submitted to the governing bodies and taken into account when developing practical recommendations for the implementation of current foreign policy directions.
Geopolitics, economy, energy, human rights, ecology, migration, security, and other areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation are in the range of these documents.
In his speech, the Vice-speaker of the Senate positively characterized the work of the Institute, noting the high professionalism of its team, consisting of experienced diplomats, including Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
This work is based on the provisions of the country's Concept of the Foreign Policy for 2020-2030, which is a program of action in light of modern challenges. In this regard, next year the Institute will have to determine the range of priority areas of work in light of the tasks set by the country's leadership.
In his speech at the meeting of the CIS Leaders Council, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underlined the urgency of ensuring international security and stability, noting that "sustainable development and progress are impossible in conditions of tension and mutual distrust in interstate relations."
"In the current situation, the issues of ensuring territorial integrity and sovereignty, including their content, require special attention. It is also very important to improve regional cooperation in the field of cross-border relations, the joint use of transboundary water resources, the fight against drug trafficking and human trafficking. The above-mentioned agenda is of particular importance in the context of the plans announced by the Head of our state to transform the CICA into a full-fledged organization for security and development in Asia," A. Shakirov said.
To sum up, Minister M. Tleuberdi noted high results of the Institute's research of current trends in global politics, the world economy, and international security, as well as the importance of conducting high-quality of global and regional processes for effective protection of the country's national interests.
It was recommended to the Institute to establish closer and regular contacts with embassies of the Republic of Kazakhstan abroad, as well as similar foreign research centers.
At the outcome there was expressed a unanimous opinion that "FPRI" JSC established itself as a "think tank" for expert support of the country's foreign policy.
