On June 18, 2026 the republican socio-political newspaper «Kazakhstanskaya Pravda» published an article by Deputy Chairman of the FPRI Board Manarbek Kabaziyev on the topic «Space of Opportunities», dedicated to modern approaches of Kazakhstan to development of cooperation with Afghanistan and increasing role of our country in regional processes.
The article notes that in recent years, Kazakhstan has consistently implemented a pragmatic model of cooperation with Afghanistan based on the principles of non-interference, respect for sovereignty and responsible involvement in regional economic and humanitarian processes.
The publication emphasizes that the basis of the Kazakh-Afghan relations are trade and economic cooperation, food security, development of transport and logistics corridors, humanitarian cooperation and educational programs.
The article also notes increasing role of Kazakhstan as an international platform for discussing issues of sustainable development in Central Asia and Afghanistan. In this context, opening of the United Nations Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, initiated by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, assume particular significance.
The author emphasizes that the foreign policy pursued by the Head of State, aimed at strengthening regional interconnectedness and promoting a policy of pragmatic engagement, helps strengthen Kazakhstan's position as one of the key partners of international community in promoting sustainable development of Afghanistan.
