On August 24, 2026 Deputy Chairman of the FPRI Board Manarbek Kabaziyev held a meeting with Swiss journalist, editor of the socio-political weekly «Die Weltwoche» Marcel Odermatt.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on current issues of Kazakhstan's foreign policy and international agenda.
Special attention was paid to Kazakhstan's multivector foreign policy and its role in the transformation of international system. M.Kabaziyev noted that multivectorism is Kazakhstan's long-term strategy based on diversification of foreign policy and foreign economic partnerships, aimed at ensuring the country's national interests.
In this regard, prospects for development of Kazakhstan's relations with Russia, China, the European Union, the USA, and other centers of the world economy and politics were reviewed.
The interlocutors discussed development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, implementation of transport and logistics projects—including the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route—as well as prospects for further alignment of transport and economic ties between China, Central Asia, and Europe.
The conversation also touched upon issues of the Kazakh-European and Kazakh-Swiss cooperation. In particular, potential for interaction in the fields of investment, critical raw materials, technologies, energy, logistics, education, and personnel training was noted.
Significant attention was paid to the role of Kazakhstan and Central Asia in emerging multipolar system of international relations, as well as growing role of the region in international politics and global economy.
