DEPUTY CHAIRMAN THE FPRI BOARD MANARBEK KABAZIYEV COMMENTS ON THE ROLE OF THE SCO IN THE EMERGING MULTIPOLAR ARCHITECTURE FOR «THE ASTANA TIMES»

On September 1, 2026 the International publication «The Astana Times» published an analytical article titled «Tokayev Calls for Stronger SCO Cooperation as Experts See SCO Emerging as Key Multipolar Platform», dedicated to address by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the anniversary Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Bishkek and the prospects for further development of the Organisation. The material features an expert assessment by Deputy Chairman of the FPRI Board Manarbek Kabaziyev.
In his commentary, the expert noted that over 25 years, the SCO has transformed from a regional confidence-building and security mechanism into a significant platform for political dialogue and practical cooperation within emerging multipolar system of international relations. Special attention is given to development of the «Eurasian model» of cooperation, based on the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect, and consideration of national specifics of states.
According to M.Kabaziyev's assessment, prospects of the SCO are tied to transition from institutional establishment to enhancing practical effectiveness, primarily through development of transport and digital connectivity across Eurasia, economic interaction, and joint projects.
