On September 21, 2023, Chairman of the Board of Foreign Policy Research Institute Bolat Nurgaliyev jointly with the leadership of the Department of International Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan met the fellows of the UN Disarmament Program who arrived in our country as part of a two-month course on studying international experience in the field of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) control and nuclear disarmament. The fellows from 24 countries are young employees of Foreign affairs and defense ministries, as well as specialized international and regional security structures.
B. Nurgaliyev shared memories of early stage of Kazakhstan's participation in measures to eliminate the WMD infrastructure that was on our territory after the collapse of the Soviet Union, assessments of current state and prospects of nuclear disarmament, and answered questions from the UN fellows.
